Things haven’t gone too well for the Oakland Athletics in 2023.
The team has won just six of their first 30 games and are also preparing for a seemingly inevitable move to Las Vegas.
On Tuesday, their woes continued.
However, there was a bright spot.
Young right-hander Mason Miller took the ball for Oakland against the Seattle Mariners and pitched seven scoreless innings without allowing a hit.
He was replaced by left-hander Richard Lovelady in the top of the eighth.
But Lovelady allowed two runs and ultimately soured Miller’s dominant performance, taking the loss as Miller received a no-decision in another excruciating defeat for the Athletics.

Miller was certainly on point for the Athletics on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, he was not rewarded for his dominant outing.
The 24-year-old matched a career high by striking out six batters, keeping the slumping Mariners in check over seven innings.
But it was all spoiled in the top of the eighth when Lovelady surrendered two runs to put the Mariners on top.
Still, Miller had a start to remember against a powerful Mariners lineup.
Tuesday night marked the third start of Miller’s career.
He is 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA over 15.1 innings of work, while also striking out 17 batters and posting a WHIP of 0.98.
The Athletics have now dropped to 6-24 on the season.
The team owns the worst record in Major League Baseball.
They have also dug themselves a 12.5-game hole in the competitive American League West division.
The A’s will look to bounce back on Wednesday in the second game of their series against the Mariners.
