The game of baseball is a weird one.
Some days you have it, others you don’t.
Such was the case on Thursday night when New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman took the mound in the top of the ninth inning looking to earn a save and close out the Toronto Blue Jays.
Chapman faced just three batters on 16 pitches, but it wasn’t due to efficiency and shutting the Blue Jays down in short order.
No, he walked all three batters he faced.
Though the Yankees ended up winning the game by a final score of 3-0, Chapman was just a little off and Michael King had to come in and bail him out.
Sometimes the car will turn over but just won't start.

That’s Baseball
It happens.
Baseball is a strange game, and the gods do some odd things from time to time.
Chapman is usually quite pinpoint with his command.
That just wasn’t the case on Thursday.
He’s lucky he had King to save him there after he walked the first three batters.
King bared down and managed to escape the bases-loaded, nobody-out jam Chapman had put him in.
But Chapman, usually one of the most dominant relievers in the game, just didn’t have his best night.
Again, it happens.
It’s baseball.
Strange things happen all the time.
But at least for the Yankees, they were able to find a way to escape the jam and come away with a victory.
All is well that ends well.
It is a little weird to see Chapman miss like that.
He’s normally very accurate and precise.
He just had a tough night on Thursday.
We’ll see if he can rebound from it, as well as how King will respond to escaping such a high-leverage situation.
