Antonio Brown stole the NFL headlines in Week 17.
He removed his pads and left the field during the middle of Sunday’s game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets.
The sight was jarring and also a bit sad.
The Buccaneers moved on immediately and Brown is without a team again after being in what seemed like a perfect situation.
That means a lot of potential future earnings have gone up into thin air.
But Brown also cost himself the chance to earn nearly $1 million here at the end of the season.
Antonio Brown needed:
8 more catches to unlock a $333,333 bonus.
He also needed 55 receiving yards to unlock another $333,333 bonus.
He also needed just 1 receiving TD to unlock another $333,333 bonus.
This was a costly outburst.

Brown missed time this year with injuries and a suspension.
But he still had $1 million in bonuses right within reach.
He needed eight catches for $333,333, 55 receiving yards for another $333,333, and just one more touchdown to get himself another crisp $333,333.
All of those were right within reach and Tom Brady could have even targeted him extra to reach those goals.
Instead, Brown caused a scene and may be done in the NFL for good.
Here's a sideline view of what happened with Antonio Brown. Looks like Mike Evans was trying to calm him down but nothing was going to help. AB took everything off and left.

Leaving $1 Million On The Table
It is easy for fans to react in shock to Brown leaving this money on the table.
He surely had to know about the bonuses, right?
What he did goes beyond simple logic and common sense.
He removed his pads and left the field during the middle of the game.
That is unheard of and something that cannot be figured out by someone who isn’t in Brown’s head.
Yet it is shocking to realize he did this so close to the end of the season.
He could have also just hit his bonus marks and then left in any dramatic fashion.
The only hope now is that Brown figures things out and gets any help he needs.
