New York Yankees fans are known as some of the most passionate in the sport.
In some cases, that passion can be detrimental if not directed or professed in a respectful manner.
Some Yankees players in recent years, especially in 2022, have been rumored to be displeased with the fans’ treatment towards them.
Even visiting players, such as Houston Astros reliever Ryan Pressly, wondered how some fans can be capable of booing Aaron Judge after giving the team so much joy throughout the years and, particularly, this season.
But not every player thinks New York is a pressure cooker.
Some actually like the high bar, the unreasonable expectations, and the constant challenge to play to the top of their ability.
Anthony Rizzo belongs to that second group.
“Anthony Rizzo on returning to the Yankees: ‘To be in a big market, to be under the bright lights, to have that 24/7 scrutiny is one of the many things I love about this game,’” The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner tweeted.
Players Have Different Approaches And Opinions, Which Is Completely Fine
Yankees reporter Gary Phillips noted the difference in approach between Rizzo and the players that complained about the treatment from fans.
“Notable given some of the stories about the player perception of Yankees fans that have made the rounds this offseason,” he tweeted.

Cases like Rizzo are the exception rather than the rule.
Not everybody likes to hear insults, boos, and their own fan base turn against them.
However, it’s nice Rizzo shows the calm and composure to digest all the bad New York baseball has to offer, and soak in all the good.
That’s right: not everything is a horror movie about playing in New York; there are also positive things.
Rizzo just does a better job than everybody else at spotting them and actually enjoying them.
