Things have never been worse for the Los Angeles Lakers this season.
The struggling team is now 11th place in the Western Conference, which means they are currently out of play-in contention and are officially out of the postseason…for now.
They will have to fight harder than ever to sneak back into the play-in and possibly win a spot in the playoffs.
That means they need a hero – and they might be getting one in the form of Anthony Davis.
Lakers star Anthony Davis plans to return Friday vs. the Pelicans, barring setback, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Davis has been sidelined since Feb. 14 due to mid-foot sprain. Big Lakers-Pelicans game with Play-In ramifications.

Davis, who has been out since February with a mid-foot sprain, is looking to return to the floor Friday night as the Lakers take on the New Orleans Pelicans.
Will Davis be enough to get the team back on the right path?
Lakers Are Lost
Even if Davis does come back on Friday and puts up amazing numbers, the Lakers are still in a very tough spot.
There is speculation that LeBron James may also be returning Friday from his own injury, which would be a huge help too.
Still, it might not be enough to get LA out of the hole they’re in.
The team was having all sorts of problems even when both James and Davis were on the floor.
There is no doubt that these two superstars help them out a lot but when a team is this far off course, even the best players in the league might not save it.
Right now, the Lakers are behind the San Antonio Spurs for the 10th seed in the West because the Spurs own the tiebreaker of a better conference record.
Meanwhile, the team is two games behind the ninth-place New Orleans Pelicans.
That means that the stakes couldn’t be any higher for Friday night’s face-off.
