The Los Angeles Lakers scored another pivotal win on Sunday, beating the reigning champion Golden State Warriors, 113-105, at Crypto.com Arena.
Stephen Curry was back and posted 27 points, Klay Thompson was solid with 22, and Draymond Green nearly scored a double-double but it wasn’t enough to stop the Lakers and especially Anthony Davis.
Davis scored 39 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists during the big win, continuing a powerful streak.
As pointed out by Hoop Central, over the last four games Davis has scored 30, 28, 38, and now 39 points.
That goes along with his 15, 19, 5, and 8 rebounds.
Anthony Davis over the last 4 Games:
39 PTS, 8 REB, 6 AST, 56% FG
38 PTS, 5 REB, 2 AST, 54% FG
28 PTS, 19 REB, 5 BLK, 57% FG
30 PTS, 15 REB, 4 AST, 60% FG pic.twitter.com/O32mNLilM3— Hoop Central (@TheHoopCentral) March 5, 2023
At this point in the season, every win counts for the Lakers.
They are without LeBron James – and may be for some time – so this sort of output from Davis is greatly welcomed by the rest of the team and the nervous fanbase.
A performance like this is very good news for the Lakers faithful, especially since it came against the Warriors.
Davis has been starting to look like an MVP candidate again after months of injury and weaker output.
For the season, he is still averaging 26.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists – stunning numbers from the big man.
As is always the case when James is out, more attention is being paid to Davis and his work and people are expecting a lot from him.
If the Lakers are able to make the playoffs, it will be because Davis is playing in fine form again.
Sunday night was yet another reminder that Davis is still one of the most talented players in the league and can be a force to be reckoned with when fully healthy.
