Arte Moreno, the owner of the Los Angeles Angels, is well known for having opened up his pocketbook to make some pretty big free agent signings.
He signed Albert Pujols to a 10-year, $254 million contract after the 2011 season.
He also dished out a large contract extension to Mike Trout and signed Shohei Ohtani.
But no matter what Moreno has done, the Angels have still not found ways to win.
Today, the Angels made a big announcement, revealing that Moreno is now exploring a potential sale of the franchise.
Moreno released a statement through the Angels on the situation, stating that he believes now is the time to move on to something else.

Angels Owner Potentially Selling?
This is a huge development in baseball right now.
Moreno has owned the Angels for the last 20 years and has made some big moves.
But it appears that he is going to sell the team now.
It’s an interesting choice, but considering that the Angels really haven’t had all that much success with him as the owner, perhaps it is time for the Angels to go a different direction.
The Angels will keep Galatioto Sports Partners to assess strategic options.
Nobody saw this coming.
While Moreno has been given a great deal of criticism, nobody would have expected for him to ultimately decide to sell the team.
It always makes for an interesting story when something like this happens.
Perhaps there’s more going on behind the scenes that we aren’t aware of just yet.
We’ll see what comes out of this story as time goes on and if there are things that we just aren’t aware of yet.
A decision like this is certainly never made lightly.
