It’s been a season full of misfortune for the Los Angeles Angels.
From injuries to losing skids, almost nothing has gone in favor of the Halos.
Now, they’re in the midst of a little drama, as Arte Moreno, their owner since 2003, is looking to potentially sell the team.
Speaking of injuries, the Halos have been without Anthony Rendon for some time.
The slugging third baseman was the Halos’ marquee addition prior to the 2020 season.
He’s currently out for the remainder of this season.
Angels reporter Sam Blum took note of how ever since Rendon went down, they haven’t had great options for third base, with all of the players they’ve tried hitting a combined three home runs since.
Ever since Anthony Rendon got hurt, there's been almost 0 options at third base for the Angels. No organizational depth there whatsoever.
Jose Rojas, Phil Gosselin, Jonathan Villar, David MacKinnon, Jack Mayfield, Matt Duffy, Tyler Wade.
They've combined to hit 3 HRs. at 3rd.

Angels Depth Issues
Ultimately, the truth is that the Angels are just short on depth, and not just at third base.
Their lack of depth has caused them a great many problems this season and stands to reason why they have fallen so far after such a great start.
The emergence of Taylor Ward wasn’t enough.
Neither were the abilities of Shohei Ohtani.
Mike Trout has also missed some time.
But when it comes to guys picking up the slack at third base, Blum notes that in truth, the Angels have not had any good options there, and that has been a major issue for them all season long.
None of them are hitting and Rendon isn’t due back for quite some time.
Things just keep going from bad to worse in Anaheim.
Third base is the clear weak point in terms of depth and it’s something that the Angels will definitely need to address when the season finally reaches its end.
