The Los Angeles Angels for several years, even after adding offensive stars such as Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton, Shohei Ohtani, and Anthony Rendon, lacked a key component in what makes a team a postseason contender.
Pitching.
It’s something you can never have enough of at the Major League level.
It’s something that always seems to be at a premium.
However now, the Angels seem to have deeper pitching and the ability to have starters go deep into games and give them some much-needed innings coverage.
One MLB insider points out that now that this team has some solid pitching, they could turn into a serious contender for the postseason.
Angels starting pitchers have combined for 92 strikeouts this season (most in the AL).
Combined .195 opponent BA (1st in the AL).
Combined 3.41 ERA (4th in AL).
A team with Trout, Ohtani, Rendon, Walsh AND pitching? Could be fun.pic.twitter.com/Ltwgw6MQ1X

Halos Ready To Take Next Step
The lineup already features guys such as Trout, Ohtani, Rendon, and Jared Walsh.
Having some solid starting pitchers such as the aforementioned Ohtani, Noah Syndergaard, and Michael Lorenzen could help this team finally take the next step and bring them to where they have been trying to get to since 2012.
They also have a solid closer in Raisel Iglesias.
This could end up being a pretty good team in 2022 if all goes according to plan and they stay healthy.
Lack of pitching depth has derailed them time and again, but now, they have some solid depth on that pitching staff that could help them contend for an AL West division title.
It’s been since 2014 that the Angels have reached the postseason.
With some solid bats and solid starting pitching, this could potentially be the year that they break out and end that drought.
We’ll see what the rest of the 2022 season has in store for them after their 11-7 start.
The future all of the sudden is looking a little brighter for the Halos.
