The Los Angeles Angels are on an epic slide right now, having lost 13 consecutive games.
They went from being at the top of the AL West to now being three games under the .500 mark and locked in a second-place tie with the Texas Rangers.
It got so bad that the team’s manager, Joe Maddon, was relieved of his duties.
MLB writer Alden Gonzalez points out on Twitter that there were four 13-game losing skids during the 2021 season, with all of them belonging to both the Baltimore Orioles and the Arizona Diamondbacks, who each went on to lose 110 games and finish in last place in their respective divisions.
There were four 13-game losing streaks last season, all done by the D-backs and Orioles, the two teams that lost 110 games each.

A Dubious Distinction
This is just a tad concerning if you’re an Angels fan.
Just think about it for a moment.
Your team has lost 13 straight and is in complete free-fall mode as of late.
Last year, two teams that ended up losing 110 games each had a few 13-game skids.
Now, your team is experiencing the same thing.
Of course, in the case of the Angels, they’re still close in the postseason race and aren’t too far under .500.
But this has to be a concerning trend.
It has not been smooth sailing for this team.
They went from looking like they had worked out all of their issues that were plaguing them in years past to being right back where they began.
This is not good company to be in.
As a team, you never want to be associated with squads who lost 100+ games the previous year, but that situation has become a reality for the Angels.
If the Angels want to reach the postseason, they’re going to need to snap out of this funk, and fast.
