There are several parody social media accounts that tweet fake stories about sports.

New York Porch Sports is one of those accounts.

They tweet fake sports news in an attempt to create a satirical vibe on their page with their various followers.

Sometimes though, people can fall for these fake stories.

That’s the whole point of a parody account, isn’t it?

They tweet false news to generate humor but also get people to believe something so outlandish that even the least informed sports people can tell it’s fake.

But you never want to fall for a fake story and actually talk about it on the air, like the Los Angeles Angels‘ radio broadcast team did in relation to a joke tweet about Gerrit Cole.

A Hilarious Mistake

This is absolutely hilarious for fans, but quite embarrassing if you’re the Angels’ radio announcers.

Falling for something like that on a live broadcast is something that is tough to recover from.

But the question is, how can you be duped by an obviously fake story, especially if you’re an announcer or a writer?

Sometimes, you just get fooled.

You just don’t want to be fooled and have the entire world find out about it, especially in the age of social media.

Being duped on a live broadcast is unfortunate to say the least.

These announcers are going to have a rough go of it for the next few days, as fans all over sports and all over the internet will be turning this into a new meme which will go viral and get everybody’s attention.

That’s just rough.

Will it gain as much traction as Thom Brennaman’s mid-apology home run call?

Maybe.

But this one is going to sting for a while for the Angels’ broadcasters.
