The partnership between quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid is doing wonders for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Since the former Texas Tech standout took over the team in 2018, the Chiefs have played in four AFC Championship Games and two Super Bowls.
Their last season may have ended one game short of another trip to the big game, but it’s still largely a success, considering that they struggled early in their campaign.
Indeed, the good times are rolling for the Chiefs, so much so that Reid had this to say about having Mahomes as his quarterback.

Pro Football Focus shared a quote from Reid, saying that having Mahomes at quarterback is “better than a jelly donut.”
As always, jokes with food fit the veteran head coach given his physical build.
But kidding aside, Mahomes has been tasty for the Chiefs ever since he became the starter.
An Accomplished Career In Five Seasons
Amidst all the playoff experience he already has, it’s easy to forget that Mahomes is just 26 years old.
The Chiefs hope that he will continue to play at a high level over the next decade which coincides with his ten-year, $450 million contract extension.
But even before that deal kicks in, he has already achieved individual and team success.
He led the Chiefs to victory in Super Bowl LIV during a postseason run that had them always coming from behind.
Mahomes is also a former league and Super Bowl MVP.
He has been an Offensive Player of the Year, an All-Pro, and a Pro Bowler as well.
That said, there’s nothing more you could ask for from him.
Therefore, every championship or award he wins moving forward are like sprinkles on top of a donut.
