For years, the Kansas City Chiefs struggled to find another star running back.
Those days with Jamaal Charles wreaking havoc out of the backfield seemed like a distant past, and Kareem Hunt’s domestic abuse scandal cut his tenure at Arrowhead Stadium short.
Then, LSU star Clyde Edwards-Helaire failed to live up to the expectations, which is why the Chiefs didn’t hesitate to use their seventh-round pick on Rutgers’ Isaiah Pacheco, a tackle-breaking machine with a great feel for the game.
Andy Reid and the Chiefs brought him along slowly, but he kept earning more reps until Edwards-Helaire’s injury paved the way for him to become their starter.
So, now that he’s on the verge of making a Super Bowl appearance in just his first season in the league, HC Andy Reid had nothing but praise for him.
Reid lauded Pacheco’s intelligence and ability to make adjustments, as their offensive system demands plenty of different things from their running backs.
But more than that, he praised the 23-year-old for his never-ending drive, going as far as to compare him with the Energizer bunny for never running out of fuel.
"He is that energizer bunny guy."

Pacheco’s stamina and grit sure make up for his apparent lack of size or muscle.
He can break through tackles and continue to pile up yards after the contact with his determination to keep those feet and the chains moving.
So, once and for all, it seems like the Chiefs might have found that star running back they had craved for years.
