The ESPY Awards were on Wednesday night and the Golden State Warriors were all over the show.
Not only was it hosted by Steph Curry but Klay Thompson took home the prize for Best Comeback Athlete and the team won Best Team.
It was quite an honor that led to a bunch of the team’s players making the stage to give an acceptance speech.
During that speech, Andre Iguodala gave a shoutout to his team’s owner – he also gave him an apology.
“I just came up here to promote my podcast Point Forward… We just got Joe Lacob fined $500k. I’m sorry, Joe.”

“I just came up here to promote my podcast, Point Forward,” Iguodala said.
He added: “We just got Joe Lacob fined $500,000. I’m sorry, Joe.”
Iguodala is right: he really did just cost his boss a lot of money.
A Hefty Fine
Lacob, the owner of the Warriors, was on Iguodala’s podcast when he made a comment that got him in hot water.
He spoke of the NBA’s luxury tax practices and said they were unfair to teams.
That was all it took for the league to fine Lacob half-a-million bucks.
Some people are saying that this fine is just as unfair as luxury taxes, they claim it doesn’t allow Lacob to speak his mind.
There is some truth in that but that’s how the league works – and it is how it’s worked for some time.
Players and team officials need to be very careful about what they say and how they say it.
The league has repeatedly shown that they will not go easy on anyone and fines can come fast and furiously.
Lacob will be okay because he has plenty of money.
If anything, this drama will actually help his employee because Iguodala’s podcast will get many more listens now.
