The Boston Celtics put the Brooklyn Nets to shame in the first round of the playoffs when they swept Kevin Durant and his troubled team.
To some, this was a sign that the Celtics were the real deal and truly have what it takes to go all the way to the NBA Finals this year.
However, not everyone thought that was the case.
I tried to warn everyone that the Nets being so comically overrated all year was having a warping effect on the rest of the playoff odds, and in turn making the *Celtics* a touch overrated for sweeping them.
Milwaukee is the far better team, even without Middleton.

Following a pretty jarring defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 of the second round on Sunday, some people are wondering if the Celtics really are as promising as they once seemed.
Nick Wright brought up that point on Twitter.
Wright said, “I tried to warn everyone that the Nets being so comically overrated all year was having a warping effect on the rest of the playoff odds, and in turn making the *Celtics* a touch overrated for sweeping them.”
He added: “Milwaukee is the far better team, even without Middleton.”
Is Wright correct and are the Celtics about to fall back down to Earth?
Bumps In Boston’s Road
The truth of the matter is that the playoffs were never going to be easy for Boston – or really any team.
While it is true that the Nets’ perceived chances were somewhat inflated because of the roster, the Celtics shouldn’t be totally discounted.
Yes, the playoffs are a completely different beast from the regular season but the Celtics really did have an incredible season this year.
In fact, there was a time when it was as if the Celtics were literally defeating every team in the league.
In other words, they do have what it takes to defeat the Bucks but it will be no walk in the park.
If they come out victorious in the second round, no one should doubt them again.
