For years, we’ve expected the Los Angeles Chargers to be in the mix as a Super Bowl contender.
Justin Herbert is a special talent, and they have some of the most explosive playmakers on offense in the entire league.
They’ve failed to revamp their defense, even though they’ve spent plenty of money and capital to do it.
But as usually happens in a quarterback-driven league, most of the narrative is always centered on Herbert, play-calling, and decision-making.
With that in mind, Willie Colon and Craig Carton debated the Chargers’ situation on “The Carton Show.”
"I don't think Staley survives another non-playoff season. But it's also time for Justin Herbert to be the guy."

They stated that HC Brandon Staley knows that he’s in the spotlight ahead of their matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, mostly because he entered the season on the hot seat and hasn’t done a lot to help his cause.
However, as right as everybody is to question Staley’s ability to lead the team, Carton believes it’s time people start holding Herbert accountable as well.
While his talent is undeniable and his numbers have been solid, it’s time that Herbert takes that leap forward as a leader and proves that he can be “the guy” when his team needs him, and that hasn’t happened thus far.
Granted that the defense hasn’t done a lot to help him and that Staley’s decision-making has been more than questionable at times.
But he’s making top-dollar and is perhaps the most athletic QB in the league, and he has no shortage of weapons, so it’s time he makes a statement once and for all.
