The Indianapolis Colts have received widespread criticism for their handling of the Jonathan Taylor situation.
After Taylor requested a trade, the Colts reportedly offered outlandish deals to prospective partners, which resulted in Taylor staying with the team.
Taylor’s situation is on full display, another example of running backs being devalued in today’s game.
While the Colts have been under fire as of late, James Jones recently provided a counter viewpoint.
In a segment of “Speak,” Jones said, “You’re kinda looking at it like 800 yards and four touchdowns, we can get that from somebody.”

In Jones’ mind, while Taylor has been a solid player, he thinks the Colts can find that level of production from someone else.
Taylor had over 1,100 yards in each of his first two seasons but took a step back in 2022, recording 861 yards.
This was due to injury concerns, which have followed him into this season.
The 1,000-yard mark is a difficult point to reach for any back.
It’s typically a sign of an elite rusher who can perform at above-average levels.
Last season, there were 16 running backs to achieve at least 1,000 yards, something Taylor has done twice in his career.
Jones seems to think Taylor is an average player, which infuriated LeSean McCoy, his counterpart on “Speak.”
McCoy was a longtime NFL running back, and he has been very vocal about the current status of the position.
Whether Taylor will be signed to a long-term deal remains to be seen, either on the Colts or another roster.
