When this NBA season began, there were numerous people who thought Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks could earn his first MVP trophy.
But the conversation around him winning that prize has faded and a more pressing question has replaced it: Will Doncic and his Mavericks even make the playoffs?
The team is now out of the play-in tournament after two tough losses to the Charlotte Hornets.
Shannon Sharpe placed the blame at Doncic’s feet on Monday morning, stating that he is “not an efficient player and is putting his team in harm’s way with these bad shots.”

Sharpe said that Doncic’s shooting has been lacking and that he is putting up some silly, bone-headed shots that are impressive when they land but painful when they don’t.
He repeatedly said that the team is filled with shooters who, right now, can’t shoot.
Sharpe also touched upon the team’s lack of defense and was shocked that the team was taken down by the Hornets twice in a row.
All in all, Sharpe said that the Mavericks – and especially Doncic – have a lot of problems right now.
Most people agree with him – the troubles for Dallas are only getting larger.
Doncic once again has a huge weight on his shoulders and he isn’t enjoying himself.
He recently stated that he “used to have fun” playing for the Mavericks but that isn’t the case right now.
All of this has people wondering if he is eyeing an exit.
If the Mavericks miss the playoffs then there will be a lot more commentary like what we heard from Sharpe.
Doncic should prepare for an onslaught of criticism.
