It’s safe to say that the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears aren’t exactly on the same tier right now, at least in terms of contention.
The Chiefs are fresh off winning a Super Bowl, while the Bears are 0-2 and have shown little-to-none signs of improvement through the first two weeks of the season.
However, as lopsided as this matchup might seem at first glance, it’s actually worth turning on the TV and tuning in, at least according to Tony Holzman-Escareno.
Patrick Mahomes & Justin Fields will be the first matchup in NFL history between a starting QB that had 1,000+ rush yards & a starting QB that had 5,000+ pass yards in the previous season.

Per his report, this will be the first quarterback matchup in NFL history between a starting QB that had 1,00+ rushing yards (Justin Fields) and a starting QB that had 5,000+ passing yards in the previous season (Patrick Mahomes).
This will also be the first matchup since the 1970 merger between the quarterback with the highest career win percentage (Mahomes, .793) and the quarterback with the lowest winning percentage (Fields, .185).
To make things even more interesting, Bears fans will forever remember that they actually took Mitch Trubisky over Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The Bears have now dropped 12 straight games dating back to last season, and they’ve allowed at least 25 points in each and every single one of those games, all despite having a defensive-minded head coach.
On top of that, Fields has regressed in these past couple of weeks, mostly because of the Bears’ reluctance to roll him out of the pocket and allow him to do what he does best.
If they don’t make adjustments, this historical matchup could be over before it even starts.
