The New York Giants drew plenty of criticism for the way they handled some of their investments this offseason.
People thought they should’ve used the franchise tag on Daniel Jones instead of Saquon Barkley, and that could’ve saved them a lot of drama.
Moreover, even if they could still get away from the big contract they signed him to, they spent a lot of money on Jones, who has never been a top-tier quarterback in the eyes of many.
That’s why NFL insider Peter Schrager believes Jones needs to perform like a top-10 quarterback next season, considering he’s been paid as such.
"He's gotta be one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. He's gotta show that he IS that guy, they're paying him that way…

Schrager adds that the Giants have a more than decent offensive unit right now, not to mention Barkley will be back on the field, so there’s no excuse for Jones not to deliver.
Jones is coming off the best season of his career and took a big leap in Brian Daboll’s first year in charge.
But even his best year isn’t that impressive, at least from a stats standpoint, most analysts claimed that the Giants didn’t stand a chance to sniff a playoff berth without Saquon Barkley on the field.
There’s still a chance that he will continue his progression and is even better next season, and Giants fans will definitely hope that’s the case.
If not, he could be one of the most overpaid quarterbacks in the history of the game.
