After a disappointing outcome in the 2022 NFL season, primarily due to the decision to go without an offensive coordinator after Josh McDaniels left for the Las Vegas Raiders, the New England Patriots came into this season with high hopes of turning things around with Bill O’Brien taking the helm on offense.
The one player who stood to benefit the most from O’Brien’s arrival was third-year quarterback Mac Jones; so far, he has looked good in the first two games, but now he’s suffering from a lack of weapons on offense.
With two weeks in the books, the Patriots have lost by a combined 12 points against two of the best teams in the NFL, with Bill Belichick and company more than capable of coming out on top against the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins.
Unfortunately for New England, the team is 0-2 on the season, and the offense is starting to take the bulk of the blame once again, with shots being fired at Belichick for not putting the right pieces together offensively, according to Greg A. Bedard via NBC Sports Boston.

As Bedard points out, the Patriots had the opportunity to re-sign wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who has already scored two touchdowns for the Raiders, and they could’ve brought in five-time All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins.
Those two players alone might’ve been enough to give Jones and the offense the weapons needed to make things happen and put points on the board on a weekly basis.
Instead, the Patriots are 0-2 heading into another divisional game on the road against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in Week 3.
