Syracuse University coach Jim Boeheim must be thrilled right now.
ESPN Radio Syracuse host Brent Axe has reportedly been fired, with his show ‘On the Block with Brent Axe’ taken off the air.

Moreover, Axe will no longer be a part of Galaxy Media Partners in any capacity, with CEO Ed Levine admitting that he felt like Axe’s show had become too critical of the program’s sports teams.
Levine claims that Axe’s coverage of the program’s sports team was too negative, citing that it wasn’t in the company’s best interest to keep someone like him voicing his opinions.
Notably, that doesn’t mean that Axe will stop taking digs at Syracuse University.
He still works full-time at The Syracuse Post-Standard and Syracuse.com.
He’s repeatedly stated that he’s only looking to give an honest assessment of the program’s current status, as well as give the fans a chance to space and vent.
Galaxy Media Partner is currently in charge of SU’s football, lacrosse, and basketball games, as well as various coaches’ shows.
Basketball coach Jim Boeheim is one of the leading investors who bought 21% of Galaxy Media Partner just five years ago, so having his biggest nemesis off the air is a massive win for him.
Perhaps, however, they’d be better off focusing on improving their program, as the basketball, football, and lacrosse team have all been doomed to mediocrity over the past couple of years, even recording the worst year in program history back in 2021.
