The Los Angeles Rams gave wide receiver Allen Robinson a three-year, $46.5 million contract this offseason, hoping he can be a fantastic complementary receiver to reigning Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp.
After all, he had 1,250 yards and six touchdowns for the Chicago Bears in 2020.
A year before that, Robinson finished with 1,147 yards and seven scores.
The Rams are hoping for a bounce-back season from the Pro Bowl wideout after having just 410 yards and a touchdown in 2021.
Unfortunately, the former Penn State standout started the season on a disappointing note.
His statistics from this year’s season opener against the Buffalo Bills were nowhere near his production in Week 1 of 2021.
In last year's opener at SoFi Stadium with Andy Dalton and the Bears, Allen Robinson had 6 catches for 35 yards.
In this year's opener at SoFi Stadium with Matthew Stafford and the Rams, Allen Robinson had 1 catch for 12 yards.
Who saw that coming?

The Bears Wire assistant editor Brendan Sugrue tweeted, “In last year’s opener at SoFi Stadium with Andy Dalton and the Bears, Allen Robinson had 6 catches for 35 yards. In this year’s opener at SoFi Stadium with Matthew Stafford and the Rams, Allen Robinson had 1 catch for 12 yards. Who saw that coming?”
Were the lights at So-Fi Stadium too bright for him, now that he is playing with the defending Super Bowl champions?
Is he still adjusting to Sean McVay’s offense?
Or did the Bills secondary have his number all game long?
Regardless of the reason, he will have to motivate himself by reflecting on this poor performance.
A Long Way To Go For Robinson
The Rams would like to see returns from their investment in Robinson.
That’s why they are hoping to see the athlete that became a constant threat for the Bears.
He could channel his frustrations and score a big game against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.
Doing well in that matchup should give him the confidence against the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and the Dallas Cowboys in Weeks 3 to 5.
