Today is a big day for the city of St. Louis, for it’s Albert Pujols Day.
This was declared by St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones during the ceremony on Sunday at Busch Stadium for Pujols and his fellow St. Louis Cardinals legend Yadier Molina.
Yesterday was Molina’s special day.
Today, St. Louis honors yet another Cardinals great.
Pujols certainly has had a great season for what will in fact be the final one of his career.
The 42-year-old is hitting .270 with 24 home runs, 68 RBI, and an .895 OPS.
He’s reached and passed 700 home runs and has the Cards’ designated hitter job down cold.
On Twitter, the Cardinals asked fans how they would be celebrating Pujols Day.

Happy Albert Pujols Day!
So, Cardinals fans, how will you be celebrating?
There are a number of ways you can celebrate a day like this.
You can always go back and watch Pujols’ three-homer game against the Texas Rangers in the 2011 World Series.
You could watch all of his historic blasts, including No. 500, or his 700th blast, which came just a few weeks ago at Dodger Stadium.
He was the NLCS MVP in 2004 when the Cardinals beat the Houston Astros, so there’s a lot to see there.
One of his biggest moments came a year later in the NLCS, with the Cardinals down to their final out of the season in Game 5.
That’s when Pujols hit his famous blast off of Brad Lidge to help the Cardinals survive another day.
There are so many options for how to celebrate Pujols Day.
If you bought a shirt commemorating his 700th blast, you could wear that.
It’s a great day to be a Cardinals fan, that’s for sure.
Let’s hope Pujols and all of Cardinal Nation enjoy this special day.
