The Boston Red Sox are currently tied for second in the AL East with the Tampa Bay Rays, with a 45-37 record.
Considering their 10-19 start, that record has been one of the best in baseball in the last couple of months and shows us an important truth: the Red Sox are very good at baseball, perhaps better than you think.
Their manager Alex Cora certainly believes that.
“Alex Cora is looking forward to seeing the Yankees tomorrow. Says he believes the Red Sox ‘belong in the conversation,’ too,” MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo tweeted.

Truth be told, it’s hard to say the Red Sox are as good as the New York Yankees, when the latter have a 14-game advantage in the East and a 59-23 record so far.
However, they do seem to be capable of competing with them over a short series.
An Important Weekend Series Will Say A Lot About Where The Red Sox Are
So Cora may be right: they could be “in the conversation.”
This weekend will be a perfect time to prove that.
Both teams are starting a four-game series at Fenway Park, with Gerrit Cole taking the mound for the Yanks and Josh Winckowski doing it for the Sox.
The Sox have lost two straight and six of their last ten, whereas the Bombers have earned victories in seven of their last 10.
Yankees – Red Sox games are something else; different than any other rivalry in baseball.
It doesn’t matter if one team is streaking and the other has been losing a lot of games: these series are extremely close and unpredictable.
In the end, Cora will have the chance to back up his words with his team’s play.
