The Houston Astros are in the thick of a playoff race seemingly every season.
Mostly because they have a strong roster and a good veteran manager.
Houston is known by many for the cheating scandal back in 2017.
That has caused them to be one of the most disliked teams in baseball.
Even still, Houston has a few veteran players who continue to lead them each year.
One of those players is third baseman Alex Bregman.
He has been a consistent force in the Astros lineup ever since being called up in 2016.
Bregman has many skills, but one that seems to fly under the radar is his plate discipline.
According to Brian McTaggart, since the start of 2018, Bregman has walked 455 times and struck out 406.

MLB has turned into a league where most players sell out for the home run.
That leads to more swings and misses and more strikeouts.
Bregman has never let that hurt his game.
Each of the past two seasons, Bregman has hit 23+ home runs while walking more than he has struck out.
Also, he leads the AL in games played with 151.
With less than two weeks to go in the regular season, the Astros are in a tight AL West battle.
They are in first place in the division and lead by 0.5 games over the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers.
This race will come down to the last game of the season.
You can bet Bregman will play a large role in the success of the Astros down the stretch.
