In case you hadn’t noticed, Albert Pujols has got some serious wheels.
Last night, as Pujols’ St. Louis Cardinals took on the New York Mets in the third game of their four-game set, Pujols swiped second base on Max Scherzer.
Scherzer had come set and was ready to deliver his next pitch to Yadier Molina.
However, Pujols caught him napping and took second base without breaking a sweat.
MLB on FOX Sports tweeted a video from Bally Sports Midwest, the Cardinals’ TV network, which showed Pujols showing off his burner wheels and completely catching Scherzer and the Mets off guard.
Albert Pujols' steal was so fast, they didn't even throw down ⚡️😆

Albert’s Wheels
All jokes aside, we know that Pujols is not a fast runner.
However, he is quite a smart baserunner, and he knows how to make the opposition pay for underestimating his ability to run the bases.
Underestimate The Machine at your own peril.
Scherzer should have known better, having been Pujols’ teammate last year with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Pujols, while not the fastest runner, knows how to make the other team pay and he did just that.
There was no throw over to first by Scherzer and no attempt to throw him out.
The important part is that Pujols got a great jump.
That’s the key to stealing a base, getting a good jump.
Pujols knows how to find weaknesses and exploit them.
It’s one of the reasons he’s been around for so long.
He’s a smart player with a high baseball IQ.
But it’s always a beautiful sight when a guy like Pujols steals a base.
It’s because he’s one of the last guys you would ever expect to do something like that, and when you underestimate him, he’ll make you pay.
