Adam Wainwright is no stranger to pitching on the biggest stages in all of baseball.
Having closed out several postseason series and serving as a top-of-the-rotation arm for the St. Louis Cardinals, there is little more for him to accomplish in his legendary career.
But in the final year of his storied career, Wainwright is finally getting the chance to do something he hasn’t been able to do before.
This year, he is competing in the World Baseball Classic for Team USA.
He was cut from the Olympic squad in 2003 and simply wanted another shot to compete for his country.
After his dominant performance on Sunday night against Cuba, the veteran right-hander talked about his WBC experience and what it means to him.

Wainwright went as far as to say that this is the most fun he has ever had playing baseball in his life.
He says the opportunity to pitch for his country stands to reason why this experience has been so memorable for him, and that hearing fans chant “USA” while he’s on the mound is an added bonus.
Wainwright has certainly experienced some memorable moments and loud crowds during his career, but says that the crowds on Saturday and Sunday were the loudest he had ever heard.
The 41-year-old also praised his teammates and talked about what it has been like for him to watch these stars go about their business and play alongside some of the most talented baseball players in the entire world.
Team USA is now one win away from winning another title.
