Over the last few weeks, the referees of the NBA have been under some intense scrutiny.
There have been some questionable calls during multiple games since the start of the year and this led to a huge pushback from fans.
Even news outlets and analysts have reported on the mistakes of the officials during games.
They wanted the refs held accountable for their actions, just like players and coaches are.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says that is exactly what happens.
According to ESPN, Silver said NBA officials are in fact disciplined when they make errors.
“We don’t publicize discipline for officials. We don’t think that will be appropriate,” Silver said.
Since the details of this discipline will stay private, we don’t know what sort of punishments the refs receive.
But it is good to hear that the league and its commissioner take note of the incidents that anger fans and demean the game.
The question is if these disciplinary actions will become public in the future.
Following a recent game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, there were countless people calling for the league to be more transparent about the issue.
When the refs blew a call in the final seconds, it severely altered the outcome of the game.
People were eager to know what the league would do to avoid this in the future.
The NBA isn’t ever going to open up entirely about how they treat their referees behind the scenes.
But they might shed a little more light in the future if fans, players, and reporters continue to demand it.
