Aaron Rodgers Needs A Young QB To Vilify To Stay Motivated

Every superhero story has its own villains.

With the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers, the star quarterback found his villain in Jordan Love.

The drafting of Love by the Packers signaled a future passing of the torch.

However, Rodgers didn’t like the idea of being replaced at some point.

What happened in Green Bay was a story straight from the comic books.

Rodgers, the Superman of Green Bay’s offense, would become a two-time MVP in 2020 and 2021.

With his sidekick, Davante Adams, the two slayed the teams they faced.

However, the MVP quarterback is without his sidekick in Green Bay in 2022.

Also, the villain in Green Bay has yet to taste defeat.

Jordan Love Was Rodgers’ Villain That Made Him An MVP

One fact with Rodgers’ back-to-back MVP years was showing Green Bay he’s better than Love.

With Love being drafted as the future replacement, the MVP quarterback saw him as a villain in his mind.

He felt the villain was there to take over his kingdom he built in Green Bay.

So, with the help of his trusty sidekick, he played some of his best football in 2020 and 2021.

The star quarterback made it a point to show how he was the best quarterback in Green Bay.

His play during the last two seasons earned him a new contract with Green Bay, ensuring that he’ll be around after Love’s contract expires.

However, it was because of the threat of Love replacing him that pushed him to his limits.

Now, with his new contact, his receiver gone, and Love’s fate in jeopardy, he might not excel in 2022.

If Green Bay trades Love, who would the MVP quarterback find inspiration from in an MVP race?

Another Top-Tier Draft Quarterback Could Give Rodgers A New Villain To Slay

With a young quarterback in the wings, Rodgers excels and plays his heart out.

However, if that threat is gone, he might R-E-L-A-X too much with a secured position in Green Bay.

But if Green Bay were to draft a quarterback in the first-round in 2023, he might have another villain in his mind to slay.

It could keep that MVP like feeling in his veins.

He showed that a young quarterback threatening to replace him would make him a better player.

He might need a repeat of this if he falls off in 2022 and the Packers trade Love.

Could He Have A 2018 Like Year In 2022?

Without his biggest weapon, and no threat of Love taking over, he could have his worse season since 2018.

During that season he went 6-9-1, his worse season since 2008.

He has only two main receivers from the 2021 season returning, Randall Cobb and Amari Rodgers.

However, neither of those two are 1,000-yard receivers.

They signed Sammy Watkins.

But he only posted one 1,000+ yard season during his career.

So Rodgers’ time as the reigning MVP could come to a close.

His kingdom in Green Bay may fall to another team, like the Minnesota Vikings.

However, we won’t know until the 2022 NFL season begins if Rodgers’ time is up.
