Opening Day took place yesterday and there is a new slate of games for today as well.
One game that was intended to take place on Thursday was pushed back to Friday as a result of weather complications.
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are set to renew their historic rivalry today, but behind the scenes, there’s a sort of deadline looming for the Yankees.
Outfielder Aaron Judge had set Opening Day as the deadline for the Yankees to extend his contract.
The rainout yesterday gave the Yankees an extra day, but Judge still has yet to be extended and has imposed a new hard deadline to get it done.
Aaron Judge: “We'll have an update for you guys. I’ve got a game to focus on right now. So if it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, I'll see you guys after the game and we'll talk about that.”

Will It Get Done?
Obviously, the clock is ticking for Judge and the Yankees to work out a new deal, and it’s looking like Judge will end up testing the free agent market at the very least.
Judge seems frustrated that things haven’t worked out contract-wise just yet, and if you’re the Yankees, you want to get this done soon and avoid any potential drama that will follow if it doesn’t get done.
The Yankees are the Yankees of course and they have the financial flexibility to do it, but the question remains whether or not Judge will accept whatever offer New York puts on the table today, or if they even put forth an offer.
The clock is ticking and it’s looking more and more like Judge will test the waters of free agency, if not sign somewhere else when the season is over.
All Yankees fans are waiting in anticipation, hoping that they get some good news about Judge and his contract status today.
