For years, the Denver Nuggets lacked a driving force at the power forward position.
It became evident that an aging Paul Millsap wasn’t going to be that guy, so they had to get younger and more athletic.
They did just that by trading for Aaron Gordon, a guy whose seemingly untapped potential had been seriously hampered by inconsistent play and spending most of his young career on a bad team.
But Gordon has thrived since arriving in Denver, and he’s currently playing the best basketball of his career.

Thus far, the 27-year-old is averaging a career-best 17.3 points to go along with 6.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 1.0 three-pointers per game on 60.2% from the floor.
The Nuggets are currently the no. 1 seed in the Western Conference, and while Nikola Jokic gets most of the credit, Gordon should also get his flowers.
That’s why his teammate ‘Bones’ Hyland wants everyone to know that Gordon deserves a spot in this year’s All-Star Game:
“Of course, of course, of course [Gordon should be an All-Star],” Hyland said, per HoopsHype. “This is definitely one of the best seasons or the best season I’ve seen from AG played by far. His numbers prove it. He goes out there and gives his all on both ends of the floor, whether that’s guarding the [opponent’s] best player or on the other end, scoring, rebounding, assist. He does the junkyard work for us and I feel like he doesn’t get a lot of praise. So definitely, AG an All-Star for sure,” the guard added.
Gordon’s two-way play has been huge for Mike Malone’s team this season, so this isn’t a hot take at all.
