The Yankees sent back three minor league prospects to the Royals.
Benintendi provides a little bit of a jolt to an already powerful Yankees lineup and gives them some stability.
Joey Gallo has been struggling pretty badly this season, and it stands to reason why the Yankees took a chance on Benintendi.
Manager Aaron Boone seems to be pretty excited about his new outfielder, and he didn’t hesitate to say as much.
Bryan Hoch of MLB.com tweeted what Boone had to say.
Aaron Boone: “We’ve got savages in the lineup, really good hitters. Benintendi is a great hitter, gets on base at a really high clip, hits from the left side that gives you some balance. … I’ll be excited to write his name.”

Boone Excited To Have Benny
Boone is ready to go.
He’s ready to boast a lineup that features a new big name.
And you can’t blame him.
Benintendi is a great hitter who has had a tremendous season to this point.
He’s hitting .320 with three homers, 39 RBI, and a .785 OPS.
He was also a member of the American League All-Star squad a week ago in Los Angeles.
So the Yankees got their man, a guy who can get on base, hit for contact, and even pop a homer or two occasionally.
He’s a guy that will be relied on heavily.
It’s easy to see why Boone is so excited to have him in his lineup.
He’ll help pick up some of the slack with Gallo having such a bad season and give the Yankees a little more balance in their lineup from the left side of the plate.
The Yankees open up a four-game series with the Royals today.
All Benintendi will have to do is move his things to the Yankees clubhouse before the game.
