New York Yankees fans are dreaming about the moment in which star player Aaron Judge hits home runs number 61 and 62.
The former will tie Roger Maris‘ franchise record for most home runs in a single season, and the latter will help Judge break the mark and establish a new one.
Those homers, so far, are hypothetical: we can’t know if they will happen or not.
Ideally, fans would have loved for him to do it over the weekend, at home against the Boston Red Sox.
Fate (and weather, too) got in the way, and he hasn’t homered for five games now.
His manager, Aaron Boone, was asked if it was a letdown to see Judge failing to tie the record in the recent homestand.
“Aaron Boone on whether he was disappointed #AaronJudge did not hit No. 61 before traveling to Toronto: ‘No. We just went 6-0 on the homestand, he was right in the middle of all it. The script will play out. It’s the drama of sport. Things happen if and when they’re supposed to,'” ESPN’s Marly Rivera tweeted, quoting the Yanks’ skipper.

The Script Will Play Out
Boone is right: the script will eventually play out.
Judge still has a few games remaining: the Yanks are visiting Toronto to start the week, but then will return home to face the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium.
What if he ties the record in Toronto, but breaks it in front of his fans?
He still has three games at home.
Even if he fails to hit a homer this week, there is still a road series against the Texas Rangers to close out the regular season.
The chances of Judge tying and surpassing the record are still high.
He has had a special season regardless of the single-season top mark, though.
