Nearly all of the talk surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers lately has been about James Haden and Joel Embiid.
That’s understandable since those two are the team’s leaders and could be in contention for MVP this year.
But there is another star on the squad who deserves attention and he showed why on Wednesday night.

Tyrese Maxey only played in the first half of the team’s squeaker win against the Cleveland Cavaliers but he made every second count.
He had 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting.
Maxey nailed all three of his three-point attempts and played with his trademark speed and energy.
Yes, both Harden and Embiid will likely get the most headlines in the season ahead but Maxey is also looking to make some noise too.
Maxey To The Max
The 76ers will definitely need Harden and Embiid to perform at their own expert levels in 2022-23 if they wish to make the Finals but they will also require players like Maxey to have an impact as well.
During his preseason games, Maxey has looked great, scoring 41 points and easily being the team’s most important player.
When Harden joined the team last season, some people speculated that Maxey would be out of place in the team’s new rotation.
However, he is intent on reminding people why he was once seen as Embiid’s right-hand man.
Head coach Doc Rivers, who sat out Wednesday night due to illness, must be happy with what he sees from Maxey in the preseason.
Can he carry all of this over into regular games when they start?
If so, Maxey could be having the best season of his career and could be Philly’s surprising secret weapon.
