Each NFL season there is always a team that surprises the league.
In this case, there is a unit that has shocked the NFL.
That is the offense of the Detroit Lions.
Coming into the season, no one thought a Jared Goff-led Lions team would have much success.
And while their record is 1-4, they are scoring points at a high rate.
Through six weeks, the Lions are a top-five scoring offense in the league.
Top 10 #NFL Team Total Points Scored Per Game
1. Kansas City Chiefs – 29.8
2. Buffalo Bills – 29.3
3. Detroit Lions – 28.0
4. Philadelphia Eagles – 26.8
5. Baltimore Ravens – 26.3 pic.twitter.com/dHTc1WqpeA— ⚫🟡⚫🟡 (@SteeIRNation87) October 19, 2022
It is hard not to be impressed with what the Lions have done offensively this year.
Goff is playing his best football since 2018.
He has thrown 11 touchdowns with only four interceptions in five games.
The weapons in Detroit are always a big reason for the offensive success.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds, T.J. Hockenson, and Jamaal Williams are all focal points of the offense.
St. Brown playing as one of the best receivers in the NFL when healthy.
Also, starting running back, D’Andre Swift should be returning soon.
He has only played in three games this season but is a great playmaker when available.
The only reason the Lions do not have a better record is because of their terrible defense.
Detroit is giving up 34.0 points per game, which leads the NFL by almost a touchdown.
They have lost games this year by the score of 48-45 and, 38-35.
It is hard to win in the NFL when you can not stop anyone from scoring.
Coming off the bye week the Lions head to Dallas for a game with the 4-2 Cowboys.
This will be another tough test for their defense as Dak Prescott is expected to return for Dallas in this game.
