A special MLB event will get underway Friday.
It will be the 15th annual Andre Dawson Classic, which is a round-robin tournament that features seven historically black colleges and universities, otherwise known as HBCUs.
The event was founded by Dawson back in 2008.
The first game on the schedule will begin shortly and it will be between the Southern University Jaguars and Florida A&M, which is Dawson’s alma mater.
The coverage can be seen on MLB Network and MLB.com.
On Twitter, MLB Network posted a clip advertising this great event and gave fans information on when the first game would be played.

This should be some exciting baseball.
It represents yet another chance for the game to evolve and grow, as well as reach people in all areas of the United States.
This is a great event that showcases some of the best young players in all of baseball who are rising through the ranks of the NCAA and some solid teams as well.
Alabama State will take on Grambling State university at 8 p.m. Eastern Time tonight, which will cap off MLB Network’s double feature.
Alabama A&M will play Prairie View A&M and Jackson State will take on New Orleans later today.
New Orleans is the only non-HBCU school competing in this tournament, but will be co-hosting the event.
This is a perfect way to kick off the baseball season and usher in the spring season, while also promoting several notable schools and growing the game and expanding its reach.
