Albert Pujols has been red-hot as of late.
His St. Louis Cardinals have been playing some good baseball as of late as well.
Yesterday, the Cards rallied from a late 2-0 deficit to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-3, and take two out of three in the weekend series.
One of the big moments of yesterday’s game was Pujols hitting home run No. 697.
That put the Cards in front in the ninth inning, where they would stay.
Pujols is chasing history, but also has posted a .688 slugging percentage and a .938 OPS over his last five games.
MLB Network provided these stats on Twitter along with a photo of Pujols making a heart sign and smiling from ear to ear.
The face you make when you're posting a .938 OPS and a .688 slugging over your last 5 games, while chasing history🔥👀 @PujolsFive #STLCards https://t.co/HdOhLf6ivj

The Machine Having Fun
This goes to show the pure joy of Pujols and what he has meant not just to the city of St. Louis, but to the game of baseball as a whole.
What makes this final ride so special is that Pujols is very clearly having the time of his life.
He gets to participate in one final run back where it all started for him, along with Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina.
While most are accustomed to seeing Pujols locked in at the plate and taking himself so seriously, we’ve seen a different side of him in 2022.
Yes, he’s still locked in and hitting some bombs, but he’s enjoying being with Wainwright and Molina one last time as the Cards shoot for title No. 12.
You might as well have some fun if you’re reunited with two of your old teammates for one last ride.
Pujols has been one of baseball’s best ever since he arrived on the scene, and he’s going out with a bang as he looks to help St. Louis chase down another title.
