In just two seasons, Turkish center Alperen Şengün has become one of the most important parts of the Houston Rockets.
It’s true that the Rockets are in horrible shape right now but Şengün has a good chance of being at the center of the inevitable rebuild they go through.
Şengün has gotten a lot better in just two seasons and has shown a tremendous amount of growth.
NBA analyst Bradeaux broke down the numbers and showed just how great Şengün has become.
Last season, he averaged 9.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists on 47.4% from the field and 24.8% from the three-point line.
This season, he has upped that to 14.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists on 55.7% from the field and 30.8% from three.

Şengün is giving tortured Rockets fans something to be excited about.
He has become an elite offensive powerhouse in just two years, mostly because he has been given all the time on the court he needs.
Houston’s front office knew this year would be rough with few wins and this allowed Şengün to work on his game, tweak his skills, and focus on getting better instead of winning a bunch of games.
All of this sets the Rockets up for success in the future but this season is completely lost and officially over.
Some Rockets fans are nervous that their team could lose Şengün in the next few years.
With such skill, youth, and potential, several teams throughout the league would jump at the chance to trade for him.
This means that Şengün will greatly influence the Rockets’ future, whether he is with them or not.
