When spring training begins, it’s always a fun time for baseball fans and players alike.
Often times, however, you might see a team legend stopping by spring camp to help assist the current team in their preparations.
The Boston Red Sox got a chance to experience that on Friday, as Hall-of-Famer and three-time World Series champion David Ortiz made a stop at the team’s spring training facility in Fort Meyers, Florida.
On Twitter, the Red Sox posted a few photos of Ortiz chatting with current Red Sox star and super utilityman Enrique Hernandez, taking him under his wing and providing some tips along the way.

Ortiz, often known as “Big Papi,” accomplished a lot during his storied career.
In addition to his three World Series titles as a member of the Red Sox, he was a 10-time All-Star, a seven-time Silver Slugger, an ALCS MVP, and a World Series MVP.
So naturally, he brings great experience with him to spring camp and is a voice that commands a lot of respect from the current members of the Red Sox.
Ortiz was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2022 after a legendary 20-year career.
He hit for a career .286 batting average, crushed 541 home runs, drove in 1,768 runs, had a WAR of 55.3, and a career OPS of .931.
The slugger could do a little bit of everything.
But even after his retirement, he is well-loved in Boston by fans, players, and executives alike, making him a welcomed presence and mentor at the Red Sox spring camp.
