It has been a very long time since the Denver Nuggets have been able to count on Jamal Murray.
This wasn’t Murray’s fault: the star player had been sidelined since the 2021 playoffs series loss to the Golden State Warriors following a torn ACL.
But the 25-year-old superstar is ready to get back into the game and become one of the most essential parts of his already-promising team.
539 days later… BOUT THAT TIME!!

Murray was obviously very excited, posting on Twitter, “539 days later… BOUT THAT TIME!!”
These words came just hours before Murray would make his return to the court, a return that showed a lot of promise.
Murray Makes His Return
Murray scored 10 points and 2 assists and went from 4-of-7 from the field in 15 minutes during a preseason game.
For the amount of time he spent on the court, those numbers are encouraging.
During his last season before the injury, Murray was putting up 21.2 points, 4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.
Therefore, we can assume that Murray could be averaging the same numbers from 2020-21 when the season starts.
But the good news keeps coming for the Nuggets: Michael Porter Jr. also had a promising stat line after missing more than 300 days because of his own injury.
Porter shot 5-of-7 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the three-point line.
So, it looks like both Murray and Porter could be back to their normal selves in no time at all, and they will be joining up again with their best teammate, the reigning MVP.
Nikola Jokic has only gotten better since both players have been out but he is ready to share the responsibility and the pressure of carrying the Nuggets.
