There were many, many people attending Friday night’s game between the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors.
That would be true for any night but it was even more true on Friday because the game was held at a very special location.
The NBA decided to schedule the game at the Alamodome in San Antonio and they sold out every single seat, and then some.

As the game began, the at-home audience was stunned to see thousands upon thousands of people watching the game in person.
It was estimated that nearly 66,000 people were attending the game, which would break the record for the biggest audience for a single game in NBA history.
The previous record has held the honors since 1998.
In the end, it was determined that actually, 68,323 fans were at the game, which easily shattered the record which was 62,046 during a game between the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks at the Georgia Dome.
Spurs Hall of Famer David Robinson was on hand to announce the big news, telling the crowd that “Spurs fans have again set the standard for the league.”
The massive crowd was really into the game and made plenty of noise throughout, even as the Warriors started to pull away and overtake the Spurs.
In the end, the Warriors easily defeated the Spurs, 144-113.
Aside from Robinson, other Spurs legends such as Becky Hammon, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker were on hand to celebrate such as special at such a special location.
The Spurs used to play all of their games at the Alamodome before moving to the AT&T Center in 2002.
