The Atlanta Hawks are officially in the market for a new head coach.
The team doesn’t want to have an interim coach until the remainder of the season, as they’re still trying to make a playoff push and believe they have the personnel to go the distance in the postseason.
With that in mind, they’ve already reached out to former Utah Jazz coach Quin Snyder, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The Jazz shockingly let go of Snyder in the offseason, and he immediately became a frontrunner to land the Los Angeles Lakers’ job.
Some also believed he was poised to be Gregg Popovich’s replacement with the San Antonio Spurs if he retired, but he decided to take some time away from coaching.
Snyder has become one of the most respected coaches in the league, as he did an outstanding job of turning the Jazz into a legit contender in the regular-season, even with somewhat limited resources next to Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.
The Hawks are reportedly looking for a guy that could help them develop their young players while also cracking the top 10 in both offense and defense, and Snyder sure excelled in both departments.
Notably, Trae Young could be thrilled to hear the news, as Snyder already knows how to make the most of his explosive offensive guards, and he could help him take his already-impressive numbers up a notch.
There aren’t many solid candidates available at this point in the year, so they shouldn’t hesitate to sign him right now.
