The mission is clear for the Minnesota Vikings: maintain the momentum they’ve established in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season.
The Vikings started their campaign on a strong note by stunningly defeating the Green Bay Packers, 23-7.
Their win also marked a great start for the tenure of head coach Kevin O’Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins needed to honor those two men by giving them game balls during his postgame speech in the locker room.
That gesture made Pioneer Press’ Dane Mizutani feel better about this year’s squad.
You never want to overreact too much to Week 1.
But this clip of Kirk Cousins postgame is yet another example of how different this thing already feels for the Vikings. pic.twitter.com/dGWqlg2qB0

Mizutani tweeted, “You never want to overreact too much to Week 1. But this clip of Kirk Cousins postgame is another example of how different this thing already feels for the Vikings.”
Setting The Tone Early
He also shared a click wherein Cousins led the post-game talk.
The veteran quarterback called Adofo-Mensah first and said, “You guys who have played long enough in the league know this, and I believe strongly that everything rises and falls on leadership. Speed of the leader, speed of the team. These two guys are running the organization. We are going to go as far as they can take us.”
He added, “This was the first win as these guys leading us. This was their first win, so game balls to both of you.”
O’Connell gets the bigger nod for unlocking the potential of the Vikings’ offense.
Cousins finished the game with 23 completions for 277 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Dalvin Cook had 90 rushing yards on 20 carries.
Justin Jefferson also had a monster game with nine catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns.
They will need to sustain those numbers once they face the talent-laden Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
