These days, it’s not uncommon for a member of the animal kingdom to make an appearance during a sporting event.
There was the Rally Squirrel, the Rally Cat, the bird that was unlucky enough to cross paths with a Randy Johnson fastball, and even a praying mantis who made their appearance during certain events over the last two decades.
Last night, during Game 2 of the NLDS between the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers, a goose took center stage, making its way out onto the field in the eighth inning.
Though it didn’t cause a stoppage in play, fans, players, and announcers alike were enthralled by the appearance of the goose.

Duck, Duck, Goose
Add that to the list of creatures who have found their way onto a baseball field.
The goose had a mission, and that was to get the best seat in the house for a postseason game between two heated NL West rivals.
And it sure got a good view of the action.
While the Dodgers didn’t come back to win the game, fans still got a good look at the goose.
It was shown on the jumbotron as well.
It was a good-sized goose too, and clearly, it was quite interested in the action that was taking place on the field.
Weird things can happen in the postseason.
Aside from all the magical moments that can take place, there can also be some odd moments, such as this one.
While animals make their presence felt throughout society, even in sporting events, a goose making its way onto the field might just be a first.
If the Dodgers or Padres end up winning the World Series, perhaps people can point to the goose as what got everything started.
