The Trevor Bauer legal saga has dragged on since the summer.
Fans should know the story by now: he was accused of committing graphic and violent sexual acts, leading to him being put on administrative leave by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Police also opened an investigation to see if the pitcher would face any criminal charges.
His entire status has been up in the air for months and it was easy to forget about Bauer’s situation during the ongoing MLB lockout.
That changed Tuesday as an update has been provided.
Trevor Bauer will not face any criminal charges in the LA court system, sources tell The Athletic. Bauer's active investigation by MLB remains open.

Bauer is reportedly not going to face any criminal charges for his alleged actions.
But MLB can still suspend him based on their own investigation.
Trevor Bauer Is Still Not Clear To Return
This has been a polarizing topic among MLB fans because of the nature of the situation arising from allegations.
The tricky part for MLB in handing out punishment is that Bauer did not deny committing the alleged actions.
He just claimed his entire relationship with the accuser was consensual.
But if they were still violent, can he be suspended regardless of consent?

This is a unique situation and it remains to be seen how MLB’s investigation will differ from that of law enforcement.
One difference is that the league doesn’t need to prove something beyond a reasonable doubt to hand out punishment.
Bauer can be hit with a suspension for violating the league’s domestic violence policy based on the actions he never denied.
MLB is currently in a lockout and first has to get back to playing baseball.
Once that happens, Bauer’s situation will be the most notable problem to solve in the entire league.
