Aaron Judge finally has home run No. 61 out of the way.
With that blast, he tied New York Yankees legend Roger Maris for the American League single-season home run record.
Depending on how you look at it, you could even say it’s the all-time record in baseball history.
Regardless, it’s a piece of history, and one Toronto Blue Jays fan came oh so close to catching the ball and getting his hands on a piece of baseball history.
He had his glove ready, but it just barely slipped out his reach and fell down into the Blue Jays bullpen.

So Close!
Close, but no cigar!
This guy’s pride was definitely hurt a little bit by the fact that he almost had the ball and then lost it.
It was a chance to get his hands on a piece of baseball history, and he just missed it.
Poor guy.
You have to feel sorry for him.
It would be anybody’s dream to catch a historic home run ball like that.
This fan was so close to having it and being able to say that he caught the home run ball that tied history.
The home run ball is ultimately back in the possession of the Yankees, but had he caught it, he could’ve at least taken a picture with it, and maybe even gotten a handsome reward for giving the ball back to Judge and the Yankees.
Unfortunately, it was not meant to be.
If anybody in Toronto sees this man today, they may want to offer some condolences due to the fact that he just barely missed out on catching a piece of history.
Maybe one day.
