While the 49ers didn’t make the Super Bowl, they came into their NFC Championship game with the best defense.
However, an injury to quarterback Brock Purdy hurt the team’s chances of a Super Bowl appearance.
His injury was a major blow to the team, as they were forced to use their fourth-string quarterback to replace Purdy.
The move put the offense of the 49ers in a dangerous position.
Without their quarterback, who was dominant until his injury, the team’s offense fell flat.
This is the likely reason behind Aiyuk’s claims, as the team was better with Purdy as their quarterback.
However, fans see the best team as the team who wins the game.
With fans seeing things this way, it makes people not believe in the star receiver’s comments.
The numbers also don’t lie, as the 49ers’ defense allowed 31 points.
While the team allowed 30+ points two other times during the regular season, it only resulted in one loss.
Without someone to combat the high-scoring Eagles’ offense, the 49ers were powerless to stop their opponent.
