The San Francisco 49ers are often viewed as one of, if not the most well-run organization in the NFL.
They have been known to attract big-name free-agent talent, and have been a staple in the NFC over the past several seasons.
However, they have recently moved on from one of their most impactful defensive players, losing Jimmie Ward in free agency.
After this release, Ward posted a goodbye, not only to the organization but to the entire 49ers fanbase as well.

In this post, Ward said, “Although I may be moving on to a new team, I will always hold a special place in my heart for the San Francisco 49ers.”
Ward was signed by the Houston Texans to a two-year, $13 million contract.
While he was a valued member of the 49ers’ defense, he will certainly be well-received in Houston.
The Texans are embarking on a rebuild, considering they have a brand-new coach, and their team will look significantly different moving forward.
Ahead of April’s draft, the Texans have been said to be selecting a quarterback, given their second-overall selection.
A franchise quarterback can be the difference between a good and a great team, especially regarding a playoff appearance.
Adding Ward, a longtime veteran, could significantly bolster their defense as well, which was near the bottom of the league in 2022.
Last year, Ward had 50 tackles and three interceptions, which was the best mark in his career.
If he can have a similar impact in 2023, the Texans will be well on their way to an improved season.
