Thanks to Stranger Things, Metallica’s Master of Puppets has made it to No. 1. While fans of both the band and the series seem thrilled by the news, Metallica is also very excited about their new chart-topping status. The song may be 36 years old, but it’s still clearly a banger.
The band posted about the scene on Instagram saying,
“The way The Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into ‘Stranger Things’ has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include ‘Master of Puppets‘ in the show but to have such a pivotal scene built around it. We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away… it’s so extremely well done, so much so that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that?”

They added,
“It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.”
Meanwhile, Twitter users have used the platform as a way to express their love of the series, the song, and theme where Eddie plays Master of Puppets as a way to attract the monsters back to The Upside Down, sacrificing himself while playing a great song.
One fan even pointed out what a talented musician Eddie must have been because according to the series timeline and the song’s original release date, he would have mastered it in just two weeks.
The song seems to be bridging the gap between generations, which is likely what the scene and the entire show was meant to do. Metallica fans say the song is finally getting the respect it deserves and a new generation is enjoying their music.

Although Metallica have plenty of UK no 1 albums, they've never had a no 1 single (even in the US), so here's hoping that Stranger Things will deliver Master of Puppets to the top of the charts.

i just realized that master of puppets is eddie's vecna song and he played it to prevent himself from being vecna'd while saving the others, and he knew it may be the last song he'll ever listen to

I firmly believe that #StrangerThings had the three best needle drops of the year all in one season. Running Up That Hill, Separate Ways, and Master of Puppets. All three jaw-dropping moments. 🎸 pic.twitter.com/VTiJ9tkADQ
